Atlantis Ascendant unterscheidet sich nur unwesentlich von dem in derselben Besetzung eingespielten Vorgänger The Power Cosmic, der in der letzten Ausgabe besprochen wurde.

Bal-Sagoth treiben sich mit einem lebensfrohen Black Metal (wenn das nicht ein Widerspruch in sich sein sollte) zwischen Rhapsody, Cradle of Filth, Malmsteen und SF-Soundtracks herum.

Dabei scheut sich Jonny Maudling nicht seine Zauberkisten zu nutzen um Flötenmelodien, pfeilschnelle Streicher oder Stakkato Riffs zu erzeugen, die andere Bands einem Gitarristen übertragen würden. Die Growls von Byron Roberts bleiben so gemäßigt, dass sie gut zu dem insgesamt harmonischen Ansatz der erfreulich un-truen Black Metaller passen.

Der auf 2000 Exemplare limitierte Re-Release kommt im Digi-Pack ohne irgendwelche Boni.
